The Women's Premier League's (WPL) debut match is set to be a spectacle, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) (WPL). The inaugural match of the yet-to-be-launched league will take place between Team Mumbai and Team Ahmedabad on March 4, according to a provisional timetable that is being distributed among the necessary authorities (Saturday).
Although at first glance it would appear to be just another opening, the match-intrinsic up's significance is impossible to ignore. In actuality, the contest is between Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani, two of the most well-known names in Indian business and maybe the richest individuals in both India and the entire world.
The organisers of the ILT20 tournament in the UAE, where both teams compete, have also promoted this as a tantalising match-up. The first match, scheduled for January 27 in Dubai, was postponed, and the Gulf Giants of Adani just defeated Ambani's MI Emirates in the rematch in Abu Dhabi.
The BCCI intends to launch the WPL at Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium. The league would be held exclusively in Mumbai at two venues—DY Patil Stadium and CCI—as on December 21 and afterwards also. The Wankhede, the city's main stadium, is being reserved for an ODI between India and Australia on March 17 and the IPL, which is anticipated to begin on April 1. March 14 is the date of the Mumbai vs. Ahmedabad rematch.
Team Bengaluru will face Team Delhi at CCI on March 5 in the second game of the provisional WPL schedule, which is planned as a doubleheader. In the second game of the day, Team Ahmedabad will face Team Lucknow on Sunday night at the DY Patil Stadium.
There is just one eliminator
According to the schedule, three of the five competing teams appear to be moving on to the playoff round, with the first-place team going straight to the championship game and the second- and third-place teams fighting in the Eliminator. Five days will be off for the five-team, 22-match league. The first break will be on March 17 and the second break will be on March 19. The next two are on March 22 and 23, following the conclusion of the league stage. After the fifth and last rest day on March 25, the elimination round will take place on March 24 at CCI, and the final will be held on March 26, a Sunday.
The BCCI has called each of the five business owners to schedule the signing of the franchise agreements. Unless someone's representative is unable to go to Mumbai on that day, the signings are anticipated to take place on Friday (February 3). The signature also verifies the participation of all five parties, dispelling any rumours of last-minute substitutions.
