Afghanistan vs Pakistan
The warm-up clash at the Gabba between Pakistan and Afghanistan was abandoned due to rain. Afghanistan did bat out their quota of 20 overs with skipper Mohammad Nabi being the standout performer with an unbeaten 37-ball 51. Coming into bat in the eighth over, with Afghanistan reeling at 48 for 4, Nabi struck five boundaries and a six to lay the foundation of Afghanistan's total of 154 for 6.
He combined with Usman Ghani, who struck a breezy unbeaten 20-ball 32 and forged a quickfire unbeaten 72-run stand for the seventh wicket, with Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf who had earlier in the day ripped through the top order, unable to keep the Afghanistan batters in check in the death.
In response, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan - who had skipped their batting in the first warm-up clash - batted out 14 balls before rain stopped play. Rizwan was troubled by Fazalhaq Farooqui, who got the ball to move considerably but didn't allow the 'keeper-bat to get off the mark in eight balls.
Brief Scores: Afghanistan 154/6 in 20 overs (Mohammad Nabi 51*, Usman Ghani 32*; Shaheen Afridi 2-29, Haris Rauf 2-34) vs Pakistan 19 for no loss in 2.2 overs (Babar Azam 6*). Match abandoned due to rain
Meanwhile, the two remaining fixtures - Bangladesh vs South Africa & New Zealand vs India too were affected by rain and had to be abandoned without toss. Persistent rain for over two hours in Brisbane meant the teams were denied their final warm-up game.
